Group Programs for Children

Supported Communication & Life Skills Program

Our Supported Communication & Life Skills Program is an SLP-designed, team-delivered service focused on building functional communication and everyday independence skills in meaningful, real-world contexts. The program is developed and guided by a Speech-Language Pathologist and implemented by trained support personnel under clinical direction.

Using a total communication approach, we support each individual’s preferred communication methods, including speech, AAC (augmentative and alternative communication), visuals, gestures, and other personalized systems. The focus is on practical, functional communication skills such as making choices, expressing needs and preferences, participating in routines, and engaging socially across settings.

In addition to communication goals, the program targets foundational life skills including daily routines, social participation, self-advocacy, emotional regulation, and community-based functional skills. Support personnel implement structured activities and naturally occurring learning opportunities, while following individualized plans created and overseen by the SLP.

Caregiver and team collaboration is central to the program, with coaching and consistent strategies provided to promote carryover across environments. The goal is to increase independence, confidence, and meaningful participation in everyday life through consistent, accessible communication support delivered in a supportive, team-based model.
